In celebration of its 31st Paghimugso (Charter Anniversary), the Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT) strengthened its commitment to environmental sustainability through the signing of a Tripartite Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) and the implementation of Healthy Forest for Healthy People Phase III.

The activity marked a collaborative partnership among ASSCAT, the Department of Education (DepEd) – Agusan del Sur, and Bayugan II National High School, aimed at promoting environmental awareness, forest conservation, and sustainable practices among students, educators, and partner institutions.

A key highlight of the initiative was the rollout of Healthy Forest for Healthy People Phase III, emphasizing the role of forests in supporting environmental resilience and community well-being. Participants also underwent training on the importance of trees, proper planting techniques, monitoring, and basic forest management to strengthen sustainable reforestation efforts.

The activity was attended by Schools Division Superintendent Josita B. Carmen, PhD, faculty members from Bayugan II National High School and ASSCAT’s Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science (BSES) program, ENBAYSAY officers, and representatives from MENRO and CENRO Bunawan.

The initiative supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 15 (Life on Land), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through environmental education, ecosystem protection, and strengthened institutional collaboration.

Through its continued extension and partnership programs, ASSCAT continues its commitment to building environmentally responsible communities and a sustainable future.
