Agusan del Sur State University (ADSSU) marked a significant milestone as it participated for the first time in the 14th Federation of Agriculture Students in Mindanao (FASMin) Congress held at Northwestern Mindanao State College of Science and Technology, Tangub City, from April 6–10, 2026, anchored on the theme, “Cultivating Competence and Innovation: Empowering Mindanao’s Future Agri-Leaders through Skills and Excellence in Agriculture Education.”

Out of 20 participating institutions, ADSSU was among the four new associate member institutions designated as observers. First-time participants are granted observer status, allowing them to experience the congress firsthand. Despite this designation, observer schools were permitted to join selected events of their choice, providing them with valuable hands-on exposure while engaging in actual competitions.

The ADSSU delegation, composed of 9 students and 7 faculty coaches, seized this opportunity and demonstrated remarkable performance and competitive spirit. In its debut appearance, the university proudly brought home one gold, one silver, and one bronze medal, an impressive feat for a first-time participant.

Beyond the awards, the experience provided valuable exposure and learning opportunities for the students, further strengthening their competencies in agriculture and related fields—contributing to the advancement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education through experiential learning, and SDG 2: Zero Hunger by enhancing knowledge and skills in agriculture and food production.

The delegation also expresses its sincere appreciation to the ADSSU Top Management, led by University President Dr. Joy C. Capistrano, for their full support, which greatly contributed to the success of the university’s participation.

From observers to achievers, ADSSU’s first appearance at the FASMin Congress sets a promising foundation for even greater success in the years to come.
