𝗔𝗗𝗦𝗦𝗨 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗔𝗿𝗯𝗼𝗿 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆

In celebration of Arbor Day on June 25, the graduating batch of the Bachelor of Science in Agroforestry (BSAF) and Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science (BSEnviSci) of Agusan del Sur State University (ADSSU) participated in a tree planting activity aimed at strengthening forest conservation efforts and advancing environmental sustainability.

The activity brought together the graduating students in a shared commitment to restoring local ecosystems through the planting of native and threatened tree species, including Red Lauan, Dao, Kalantas, White Lauan, Mangasinoro, Almon, and Tanguile. These species are recognized for their ecological significance, serving as vital components of Philippine forests by providing habitat for wildlife, protecting watersheds, and preserving biodiversity. The initiative also contributes to the conservation of threatened native trees, helping ensure their survival for future generations.

More than an environmental activity, the Arbor Day celebration reflected ADSSU’s commitment to producing environmentally responsible graduates who are prepared to become advocates of sustainable development and conservation in their respective fields.

The initiative supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 15: Life on Land through biodiversity conservation and forest restoration, and SDG 13: Climate Action by promoting reforestation and climate resilience.
