Agusan del Sur State University (ADSSU) joined the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Bunawan in opening its Sportsfest 2026 yesterday, September 23, at the Bunawan Municipal Ground, as part of the celebration of the 126th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary (PCSA) with the theme, “Bawat Kawani, Lingkod Bayani: Puso, Dangal, at Galing Para sa Bayan.”

Running until September 25, the three-day sportsfest brings together government employees and community participants through a lineup of sports, musical, and dance competitions, providing an avenue for recreation and fellowship among public servants.

Municipal Mayor Sylvia B. Elorde and Vice Mayor Ednard Gil G. Elorde led the opening program, marking the start of the festivities and the various competitions scheduled throughout the celebration.

ADSSU faculty members, staff, and students actively participated in the Hataw Zumba, joining fellow participants in an energetic start to the sportsfest. Beyond promoting physical activity, the event provided an opportunity for employees to step away from their regular routines, strengthen workplace relationships, and foster a sense of community among public servants.

The festivities also featured the Mr. and Ms. Sportsfest 2026, where Justene Dela Peña was crowned Ms. Sportsfest 2025, while Brix Sanoria earned First Runner-Up for Mr. Sportsfest. ADSSU also emerged as Champion in the Mass Dance Competition, highlighting the University community’s enthusiasm, teamwork, and collective spirit.

Through its participation, ADSSU joins the wider public service community in celebrating the 126th PCSA, embodying the anniversary theme by fostering health, teamwork, camaraderie, and meaningful collaboration among those who serve the public, while contributing to the broader pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals.
