ADSSU SUBIDA 2026: A New Semester Begins

BUNAWAN, AGUSAN DEL SUR — The Agusan del Sur State University (ADSSU) formally opened the First Semester of Academic Year 2026–2027 through SUBIDA: General Convocation and University Orientation, held today at the ADSSU Sports and Socio-Cultural Center.

Derived from the Filipino word “subida,” meaning ascent, climb, or the act of going upward, SUBIDA reflects the ADSSU community’s collective journey toward growth, excellence, and greater aspirations. It symbolizes the students’ continued climb as they take on new academic challenges, pursue their goals, and move forward in their journey as members of the University community.

The program began with a ceremonial parade from the University’s iconic Main Gate to the ADSSU Sports and Socio-Cultural Center, symbolizing the students’ transition into a new phase of academic life. More than a procession, the activity represented the beginning of another journey marked by new experiences, opportunities, responsibilities, and aspirations.

University President Dr. Joy C. Capistrano, joined by Vice President for Academic Affairs and Quality Assurance Dr. Carmelo S. Llanto, College Deans, faculty members, and non-teaching personnel, warmly welcomed the first-year students, transferees, and returning students to ADSSU as they begin the First Semester of A.Y. 2026–2027 and a new chapter in their academic journey.

The general convocation and orientation also served as an avenue for students to become more familiar with the University and the support available to them. Through the orientation sessions, students were introduced to their rights and responsibilities as members of the ADSSU community, helping them better understand their role in creating a respectful, inclusive, and supportive academic environment.

Students were likewise acquainted with the different University offices and their respective services, providing them with essential information on where to seek assistance and access university services throughout their academic journey. The orientation aimed to help students navigate the University more confidently and make use of the resources available to support their academic, personal, and overall student experience.

In the afternoon, the ADSSU Student Government prepared a student-centered event that brought the University community together in an afternoon of fun, camaraderie, and college pride. Students proudly represented their respective colleges through their colors, fostering school spirit and strengthening their sense of belonging as members of the ADSSU community.

As the First Semester unfolds, SUBIDA serves as a reminder to every ADSSU student that every step upward requires determination, resilience, and a clear sense of purpose. With the University community moving forward together, the new academic year marks another opportunity to learn, grow, and rise toward greater heights.
