Agusan del Sur State University (ADSSU) proudly celebrates another achievement as Madiyaw Green Escapes: The Agri-Edu Tourism of ADSSU officially received the Department of Tourism (DOT) Farm Tourism Camp–Day Farm Regular Accreditation Certificate and Accreditation Sticker during the awarding ceremony held today, July 30, 2026.

With this accreditation, ADSSU becomes the first Higher Education Institution (HEI) in the Caraga Region to earn the accreditation, further strengthening the University’s role in promoting sustainable agri-tourism as a platform for learning, research, extension, and community engagement.

Madiyaw Green Escapes is ADSSU’s flagship agri-edu tourism initiative that transforms the University’s agricultural landscape into an interactive destination for learning and recreation. Through its diverse agricultural enterprises, eco-tourism attractions, and immersive experiences, it showcases sustainable farming practices while promoting agricultural education, environmental stewardship, innovation, and community engagement.

Following the awarding ceremony, representatives from the Department of Tourism toured selected attractions within Madiyaw Green Escapes, including the Administration Building, Dam and Eco Park, Smart Model Farm, and the Aquaculture and Fish Hatchery. They experienced some of the University’s agri-tourism offerings, such as vegetable picking at the Smart Model Farm and fish feeding and fishing at the Aquaculture and Fish Hatchery, while also exploring the scenic Dam and Eco Park. The visit showcased ADSSU’s unique blend of agriculture, education, sustainability, and recreation through immersive farm tourism experiences.

The accreditation recognizes that Madiyaw Green Escapes has met the national standards and requirements for farm tourism operations under the Farm Tourism Development Act. The accreditation is valid until July 1, 2028, further strengthening the University’s position as an emerging agri-edu tourism destination in the region and the country.

University President Dr. Joy C. Capistrano welcomed the recognition, emphasizing that the achievement reflects the collective efforts of the University community in pursuing excellence, innovation, and sustainability. The milestone also opens greater opportunities for educational tourism, institutional collaborations, and local economic development while promoting Agusan del Sur as a destination for sustainable farm tourism.

This achievement advances Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education by promoting experiential and lifelong learning through agri-tourism; SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth by supporting sustainable tourism and local development; SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities by preserving and promoting the region’s natural and cultural assets through responsible tourism; and SDG 15: Life on Land by encouraging environmental conservation and sustainable management of agricultural and natural resources. Through Madiyaw Green Escapes, ADSSU continues to demonstrate how education, agriculture, and tourism can work together to create meaningful experiences that benefit both communities and the environment.
