Agusan del Sur State University (ADSSU) honored the accomplishments of its National Service Training Program (NSTP) completers during the NSTP-Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS) and Literacy Training Service (LTS) Graduation Ceremony held today, June 3, 2026, at the ADSSU Sports and Socio-Cultural Center.

The ceremony marked a significant milestone for student graduates who successfully completed the NSTP program, a vital component of higher education that fosters civic consciousness, leadership, volunteerism, and community engagement among Filipino youth.

Serving as the Guest of Honor and Speaker was Hon. Ednard Gil B. Elorde, Vice Mayor of the Municipality of Bunawan, who inspired the graduates with a message on public service, responsible citizenship, and the importance of using their knowledge and skills to contribute meaningfully to their communities.

Also gracing the occasion was Mr. Donald James D. Gawe, CESO III, Executive Director of the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA), whose presence underscored the value of volunteerism and active citizenship as essential drivers of community development and nation-building.

Representing the university administration was Dr. Carmelo S. Llanto, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Quality Assurance, who congratulated the graduates for their dedication and commitment throughout their NSTP journey. He emphasized the university’s continuing mission to develop competent, compassionate, and socially responsible graduates equipped to address the needs of their communities.

Leading the program was Ms. Liezel S. Lagman, NSTP Head, who recognized the collective efforts of students, instructors, and stakeholders who contributed to the successful implementation of the CWTS and LTS programs.

The graduation ceremony served not only as a celebration of academic completion but also as a recognition of the graduates’ readiness to become active agents of positive change. Through community immersion, literacy initiatives, civic welfare activities, and volunteer service, the graduates gained practical experiences that strengthened their commitment to public service and social responsibility.

Aligned with the university’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the NSTP program advances SDG 4 (Quality Education) by promoting lifelong learning and community-based education, SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) by fostering civic engagement and responsible citizenship, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through collaboration among educational institutions, government agencies, and local communities.
